I post it again as I have not gotten an official answer. This is a question for slithering staff.

What is the reasoning that make Gauls and Roman (marianic) legion identical expect in drilling? Especially, as it does not make the Roman suffer particulary from losing cohesion to the warband.

Good question. I, too, would like to see the Gauls good on Impact but lousy after that. That was their main claim to fame. The initial crunch. After that the training of the Legions usually cut them to pieces.

With Armoured, Skilled Swordsmen legionaries, this is exactly what happens - add in drilled vs undrilled for manoevring and I think Slitherine has this one right. Of course the Romans are more expensive, but they do cut through a gallic line like a knife through............gallic butter?

Well this is the quick sum up of the argument. I can go long to why some of us think it is wrong. But the point, is I'd like to know the official explanation.
