Ok...something of topic for once from me.
Nik Kershaw is my fav singer for the last 20 years and he just brought out a best-of of high quality with all his singles. I highly recommend it as it's full of hits (wouldn't it be good, the riddle, i won't le the sun go down on me...) and has 4 brand new songs.
The album is called Then & Now.

Ehem...
Who is Nik Kershaw????
I used to love pop music. I have nearly 300 CDs of rock-pop music covering everything from 1963 to 1972: from merseybeat to the first progressive rock dinosaurs. I must have heard about 1000 records from that era. But I never got used to new sounds. I like punk (Buzzcocks, Sex Pistols...) but the new groups sound strange to me (Oasis being the weirdest, even if they claim to be the New Beatles). Must be the production or the sound...My fav groups are The Byrds (I own even their worst LPs) and The Kinks.
I love ye olde LPs, but not sssshhhh of the needle, they've got a brightier sound (hear those Ringo's cymbals, they don't sound right in CD).
But, suddenly...
I couldn't get no satisfaction (thank you, Mick, for the double "no"). Rock music is OK, but it's missing something...I don't get the feelings I got when I was young...
So I turned to jazz and classical music. I'm a beguinner, so I'm still learning to listen this type of music. I love Miles Davis and Coltrane, because their approach has been replicated by many rock musicians (hear the guitar break in "Eight Miles High" by the Byrds and "India" by Coltrane). In Classical music I love Haendel and Bach, specially "Messiah" and "Brandenburg Concertos". Baroque'n'roll.
Bye

Nik is an artist of the eigthies. He had many hits in 83-85 which he all wrote himself. His last cds (15 Minutes and To be Frank) have received very good reviews even if they didn't sell so well.
That's the official site he's got.

Wow, he really looks from the eighties!!!!!!!!!!
He reminds me of those USA high school movies of that period involving dates and a big dance at the hall at the end.
Afortunately, the look has nothing to do with the music (David Bowie being the clearest example of this), so I may give him a try...

Just to clarify with you Spaniards, the prom is not something that was just made up for movies, but it is over-hyped (every Spaniard I meet is convinced that the prom is just a lame plot device

).

I know him but not by name. I just know two of his songs, that I also like, "The Riddle" and "Wouldn't it be good". The second is in my top 50 or something.
