Hi there,
I was able to play the game for around 30 minutes this afternoon, please find some initial observations while getting to know the game.
Overall the game feels to pay attention to details, this is caused by the nicely detailed maps and unit gfx. However, the ingame font being used, seems to be a standard windows font, perhaps a font could be used more in sync with the overall sharpness of the gfx?
* I've noticed the title menu spells the name of the game twice, once in regular font, another time in old German Gothic font. Is this done on purpose?
* In the current version there is no music in the title menu.
* Would love it if my units moved a bit slower on the map, for me it adds a certain charm if I can see my unit move over the map. Currently it feels a bit to fast for
me, with leaves me with a shallow impression.
On the UI of the taskbar on the right side of the screen:
* The buttons I expect to use most during a turn are "next unit" "purchase unit" . I would assume these buttons would be as big as the buttons on the topside of the
taskbar such as "undo turn" and "supply unit".
* Not sure why there is an image of a compass on this screen, but this might be clearer after playing the game longer? Notice the compass image is cut-off on the
bottom of the screen.
* When I toggle the map into strategic map and use the mouse wheel to zoom out, it seems to display my units, but on a complete back ground map.
* Prestige points are not aligned properly, although the date fits very nice.
* In the purchase window. I would expect the would be able to cancel a purchase, and stays in the purchase window. Currently after selecting units I want purchase
and pressing cancel, the games returns back to the ingame map. I would recommend to cancel back to the purchase screen, as I might want to check other potential
purchases. This also goes for combined units e.g. units with a truck. It seems I have to cancel back to the game if I don't want to buy the truck.
* Would love to hear more varied Panzer shooting audio. In the current version it seems all tanks, artillery and recon unit share the same sfx?
As mentioned at the start, I feel the game is really coming together and has a certain charming feel to it already. I'll try to play a couple scenarios over the weekend and post additional comments.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you feel anything is unclear.
Thanks a lot,
Marco
