Below is the first section of the readme file...
The Lost Prince of Atlantis
a Mod/Scenario for Gates of Troy, by Slitherine Strategies
One of the more obscure but fascinating myths concerning the founding of the Minoan dynasty of early Crete was that Minos I, the founder of the dynasty, was actually a lost noble of Atlantis, who had somehow survived its destruction. This scenario explores, after a rather whimsical fashion, that possibility.
The Zip archive includes relative pathing, just point the unzip operation at your Gates of Troy directory.
When you start GoT, there will now be a new little window at the left, allowing you to run the game in standard mode, ("None") or choose a mod. Choose the Crete mod. Now click New Game.
Choose scenario 18, "Grand Campaign 1500 BC - Greek Colonialism"
The correct side will be chosen by default. Once you have chosen scenario 18, you will see a little blurb in the window at left, which begins "Fleeing the destruction of Atlantis..."
Do not click around the map. You hold no territory at start of the game, (You'll capture Knossos on turn 1), so there is no way to click back to the correct side. You'll need to go back to the main menu and click "New Game" again if this happens.
By default, the difficulty level will be set at "Hard", and I urge you to play it at that level, as it has been designed for. This has actually been toned down from the default, and is only about halfway between the stock settings of "Normal" and "Hard". If you'd like to see exactly what I did, check the tweaks.txt file. I have made careful notes at the top listing all my changes.
OPTIONAL: If you look in the actual map directory (C:\Matrix Games\Gates Of Troy\Mod\Crete\data\maps\GCBasic), you will see a file named "sides.east", which is an alternate version of sides.txt, which changes the side type from Pirate/Illyrian to Eastern, actually making it a *bit* easier to win. To use this, just rename or delete the existing sides.txt file, and rename sides.east to sides.txt
The single largest random factor in this scenario is what shape Knossos is in when you capture it on turn 1. Knossos starts out with a Copper Mine 5, Farm 5, and Brickmaker 3, plus upgraded Skirmisher and Light Infantry barracks. You're never going to get more than three of those intact, but if it's a smoking hole with no surviving structures, you should start over. This only seems to happen about one time in 5, but it's a handicap if it does.
All the above information is from the readme.txt file included in the zip archive. This readme.txt file also contains a Tips & Hints section, which I have not posted here.
