Carry over campaign

I start a new campaign, check the carry over box. Start new battle, place 4 US inf, 2 GE inf. Popout is there but side bar is blank. Set 4 US inf to carry over.

Start second battle, 2 US scout, 1 GE mg, popout there but still blank.

Exit editor, go back into battle 2, poput now contains the text for battle 1 and 2. I select battle 2, paint the map edge. Save and exit.

Play battle one, kill all GE, advance to battle 2, no carry over units.

Figured it out.

Edit battle 2, select battle 1 and paint the map.

Played to get unit casualties. Next battle, unit replenished.

Played to get unit killed. Next battle, unit does not carry over.

Now if I can get my existing campaign to work with carryover.

Promotions carry over.

More than one battle can have carryover zones painted on a map.

Found the answer.

Add the text CARRYOVER to the campaign.txt file.

Things that add to the confusion

Even though the first battle is highlighted on the carryover list in the side panel, you must click it to get it to allow you to paint the map.

You must exit the editor to get the carryover popout and side panel.

Even though I selected the checkbox when creating a carryover campaign, that doesn't guarantee that the campaign will be tagged with carryover.

It should definitely create the correct CAMPAIGN file, so that would be a bug, although I did test it - is it possible there was already a campaign file in the folder?

The issue with it being selected but not actually selected, that is a bug too, I will fix.

Also brought the tutorial for the carryover to the top of my list again :)

Thanks a lot

Cheers

If I left click I get a blue outline, right click and get a red outline. What is the difference?

Your side and the enemy side. You can have enemy units carryover too if you would like.
