I just got into the vanilla version of CEAW and I'm looking for some tips playing against the AI. Playing as the Axis I read you should take Poland in 2 turns but so far its seems to take me at least 3. Also is Norway worth taking? I usually like to play historical so for example as Germany in the first year of the war I like to take Poland, Denmark, Norway, the low countries and then France.
One more thing is there a difference between the Matrix CEAW Gold version and the Military History version?

I don't think there is a difference in the versions.
Most important thing to learn first is that the order of attacks is very important.
Some units do damage other than just steps e.g. TAC's and ARM.
So if you are attacking Warsaw you need to hit it with TAC's first, then ARM the MECH (which are better at attcking Cities than ARM).
Also with Denmark, you should always do your Naval bombardment before your TAC.
Norway as an option is I think good if you are following the 'standard plan'.
Lastly, get some games against the AI then move to a human opponent, to long against the AI will teach you bad habbits.
good luck!

Poland goes in 2 turns with decent luck, 3 turns with bad luck so that's normal.
As far as invading Norway, I do that after taking England (if ever. The only value Norway has is to give a few extra PP if you decide to invade North America after RUssia. If you invade NA in 1941 then the war will be over soon enough). Incading England is pretty much a given vs the AI. The AI has some BAD tendencies. One is that it doesn't seem to want to intercept Seelöwe when it comes, so the invasion is easy).

I dug up and uploaded the strategy and tactics guide that I pulled together from posts and emails from a few years back. This guide is focused primarily on the basic (i.e., vanilla) game with a slant to the old BJR-Mod.
