Intercept Charges

Looking for some confirmation that I am interpreting this correctly.
On pg. 86 (3rd bullet) it says that intercept charges contacting the flank or rear, "cancels the enemy battle group's charge completely."
So, it would be my understanding that if the intercepted BG was a tercio or a kiel then it would no longer count as "charging" for the purposes of determining POAs.
For example, if I position my Gendarmes for a flank charge on a kiel, then I must assume that I will have to fight said kiel in impact as if it were non charging pike even if said kiel charges an enemy to its' front.
