I certainly did not have the feeling at the weekend that we would finish 12 points clear. After Bruce had us on the rack for the majority of the game on saturday afternoon, I felt we had been lucky to hang on and score any points, let alone be in a position to come back and win.

My sense is that Bruce's cunning desing challenged everyone - including the authors - rather well. It scared everyone but ultimately its brittle natin challenged mainly Bruce. I think he had a couple of people on the rack when the wheels came off........any way well does to Don or Pyrhus as he will now be known!

All good fun

The problem with Bruce's army was simply that it broke on 8 AP's. We had 15 BG's and could to some degree afford to throw them into the mincer to get Bruce out of possition. In the end we actually broke five of his BG's but two rallied back to FRG.

I actually think his army would have been more effective (if less maneuverable) with 4 BG's of 2 elephants and 3 BG's of 4 ghilmen.

I agree. In fact I would take less elephants and more cavalry, maybe a few units of lancers even. But given that small BG armies were not well represented otherwise I think taking the army as designed served its purpose. Don't expect me to take such an army design again!

From our point of viewit was great to see someone try to bust the system and give us a few things to think about.
