Slitherine

Only played one game and already I'm going crazy on the army list construction! Actually I have my first real game this week (where the guys aren't being nice to me by telling me the smart play at every step). Rather than start with the Catalan Company, which I imagine will have its own learning curve above and beyond the game, I decided to borrow minis to put together a Greco-Bactrian list.

1x6 Cretan Archers: LF, Unprotected, Superior, Drilled, Bow
1x4 Mountain Indian Cavalry: LH, Unprotected, Average, Undrilled, Javelins, Light Spear
4x4 Bactrian Light Cavalry: LH, Unprotected, Average, Undrilled, Bow, Light Spear
1x6 Mountain Indian Spearmen: MF, Protected, Average, Undrilled, Light Spear
1x8 Thureophoroi: HF, Protected, Average, Drilled, Offensive Spear
3x8 Phalanx: HF, Protected, Average, Drilled, Pikemen
2x4 Iranian Cavalry: CV, Armored, Superior, Drilled, Lancer-Sword
2x2 Elephants

I know I could take the all-cav option with this army, but I didn't want to do that. I wanted to try out elephants (I've seen how they blow up already) and this list gave me the widest variety of stuff after that.

Any suggestions for this unblooded fool? I'm assuming with my +4 Init, I want the steppe? My plan at the moment is to drop the elephants dead last to get the matchup I want with them, probably either on the flank of HF or interspersed with them. Should both Iranian Cav go on one flank and then tie down the other with 3-4 light horse? Or split the two, each with 2 LH buddies?

You can take an all mounted option. So elephants and Cats and Cav lancers.

The Mountain Indian spearmen are particularly poor. Undrilled foot with no melee or missile weapon.
You could change them for another unit of mountain indian LF or it would pay for some upgrades either the Cav to become Cats and/or the saka (bow,sword) are a lot better than the mountain indian LH.
