Can I just say a BIG THANK you to all who took part / organised the weekend. Steve and I certainly learnt an awful lot about the rules. How we managed to come first will remain a mistery to us both, although I must acknowledge the part Martin and Hammy played in beating Bruce in the last round. It was begining to look as if the wonder army was Ghaznavids.

I am too worn out to say more at the moment. I have a busy week ahead of me, so it may not be until the weekend before I collect my thoughts.

Thanks again

I would like to express many thanks to Richard, JD, Simon and Terry for all the help and courtesy extended this weekend to us. A fantastic event, and great to be able to thrash some issues out in a constructive manner. I felt listened to the whole time, even when they were having to explain things to me that they had clearly been through before.

Once again many thanks.

I must comment that after seeing, hearing and talking to the players at Usk that I'm now enthusiastic about giving the rules a run out at some time - probably after the IWF though. The whole feel of what was going on and the discussions seem to have overcome my reluctance :D

I'd like to say that I really enjoyed the weekend. To be honest I have been a bit cynical about this set of rules from the beginning, but I think now that are becoming well rounded. Playing at the weekend against a variety of opponents really was great.

thanks for organising it all...

Hello all

Thanks to Slitherine and all concerned for the hospitality and the competition. It was much appreciated.

I echo Phil's comments about input being valued; and it was really good to feel able to help at the start of a project which will, I am sure, reinvigorate the hobby.

The weekend reminded me of my early days in wargaming when a whole new hobby was there in front of me. It was all quite nostalgic really. Thiere was a definite contrast with DBM competitions, which quite often have the feel of the exam room about them.

Well done chaps and thanks once again.

And a big thank you to all of you for attending and inputing so maybe great comments. As ever, it gives the team much to mull over and out of it we will no doubt pick up some very useful changes to improve the game further still.

From a personal point of view my biggest thrill was seeing how exciting and fun all the games seemed to be. In fact it was hard not to get a game until the last round...I was gettting dice twitches on the Sunday morning watching JD and Terry using my beloved Ancient Britons.

I hope everyone had as much fun as we did and look forward to the next time which may perhaps be in Leeds. Congratulations to Don and Steve.
