Protected foot

From a game I had monday....
My unit of archers were in an enclosed field when they were charged by some Polish knights/crossbowmen. During melee we worked out that the Poles were on 2 poa for having better armour & swords. Should my archers have counted as protected foot as they were in the enclosed field, or does that still just apply to shot ?
cheers

The rules on protection seem to imply that it would also apply to melee, so I guess your archers could have been hiding amongst the walls etc and should have counted as protected in their after all.
Page 126 end of the protection section states: "In addition, foot bases entirely in enclosed fields or a village also count as "protected".
Looks like you might have missed the all important life saving POA there

They didn't need them, they valiantly rolled 5s to frag the Poles. Luckily for me the great tactic of letting your opponents dice kick his ass worked for me !

I have been in your opponents shoes before.... much to the snickering of Blathergut over the lack of poodle luck

Sorry I am being a bit slow at this time of night. Agree the archers would be protected but where does it say they get a poa as the impact tables only refer to protected shot as far as I can see.

You sure it is down to the time of night...? :)
Agree with your reading of the impact PoAs.
