Enemy Information Revealed through Area Attacks.

The situation is that I'm firing into a hex that I don't have spotting into and; therefore, I don't know if there's an enemy unit present. If there is an enemy unit in that hex and that unit is broken or destroyed by the fire (e.g., artillery barrage, airstrike, mortar attack or even a direct fire) then the game reveals that information to me. It seems to me that it shouldn't.

We get questions on this, as it is a little unusual. Basically it's a design decision to give players a better feeling when using their bombardments that something happens. While it does provide some unexpected information, we don't think this information is likely to be advantageous outside the cost of using your bonuses.

Thanks. Certainly understand the tradeoffs from a design decision point of view. A follow-up question, as I'm still learning the game; what do you mean by

Specifically, "... advantageous outside the cost of using your bonuses"?

Just that the limited number of bonuses means that people are unlikely to use them for 'scouting' by using this information.

Is this true in multi-player.

Being an experienced player, I still find interesting to know that I destroyed or suppressed some unit as that make me more or less confident to make my advance. Though I won't scout with artillery barrage (but with airstike yes, though that is historical).
