Long startup and missing figures on Mac

Hi- I'm running OS 10.6.6 on my Mac, and have FoG 1.44 with the Crusades and late Medieval supplements active. All were working fine until around Feb 15, when suddenly the program would hang at startup for almost 15 minutes. Even force quitting was delayed by about 2 minutes. The music played during this time normally. After the 15 mins, the main menu would show, with a long list of errors running off the screen (at least 25 visible, unable to scroll the list). The errors went like this:
Error: Could not load figure; Thracian/mpi-thracian-mounted-general-red2(required by formation bactrian/bactrian-cat-cataphract-a-general)
Figures from the basic game and the Swords and Scimitars supplement were included, as far as I could tell.

When opening a game including any figures from the list, their figure icons don't show- just a circle where they would be. Scrolling around the board is a little jumpy too. However, I played a D.A.G. Storm of Arrows game and it operated normally with no glitches.

Needless to say, this has curtailed my FoG activities, and has made me have to (gasp) work the whole day through...
Any ideas?

Thanks,
thearthog

It sounds like something has become corrupt. Can you reinstall the files? Not sure exactly how Mac's work though.... I've got 2 and they are still a mystery to me.
