Restricted area - enemy battle troops behind skirmishers

Non-skirmishers ignore the restricted area of enemy skirmishers; and enemy restricted areas extend through one's own friendly troops, but does the restricted zone of an enemy non-skirmisher BG extend through their own skirmishers?

You have to be real close mind you, but an enemy non-skirmisher BG has a line (1 base deep) of their skirmishers just in front. If your BG is within 2 MU of the non-skirmisher BG, is it pinned? I've assumed so, especially since the enemy non-skirmisher BG consisted of shock troops and could have charged through their skirmishers...and for the same logic as the zone extending through one's own troops.

Couldn't find anything in the FAQ or in the "Rules Questions" topics.

The restricted zone applies to any BG within 2 MU and at least partially in front of an enemy non skirmisher BG, so yes, they are pinned

That's how I've always played it too.

IIRC restricted area even extends through your own battle troops.

Yes, that's in the FAQ, the enemy's restricted area extends through your own troops (any kind), but it doesn't actually say anywhere I could find that the restricted area of an enemy BG extends through other enemy BG. The only case where that would matter would be the base of a non-skirmisher BG facing an enemy skirmisher BG just in front of an enemy non-skirmisher BG and within 2 MU of the non-skirmisher BG. The (friendly) BG ignores the restricted area of the skirmisher and is therefore only pinned if the enemy non-skirmisher BG's restricted area extends through the skirmisher.

I hadn't had that exact situation before, but I had in my last game. Carthaginian chariots had LF just in front. The Persian cavalry advanced to within 4 MU to fire on the LF. The LF (and chariots) advanced so that LF could return fire and so that the chariots were within 2 MU of the cavalry, thereby pinning them. That's how I played it....the chariots' restricted area extended through their own skirmishers.

I wonder if the FAQ should just read that the restricted area extends any friendly troops, friendly or enemy.
