LT - First Look Assessment

Just got my LT Beta installed. Here are some quick notes:
For the Roman Principate armies how about a bit of detailed info for each of the different DAG armies for the Romans. What made the 100-196 different from the period 197-217 for instance? Was the issue of the armor the only difference or were more factors at stake? Maybe list some of the principal battles as well found in the game list.
How many scenarios came in the Beta? Why did my other scenarios from the other core game and modules show up? I was hoping for a "clean list" when I opened up the game. No, I did not install it to the same path as my other game and modules. It is in it's own directory/folder structure.
How can I get rid of the non-Beta scenarios so I only see the LT scenarios? If not how can I differentiate between LT scenarios and those of the other modules (other than by date)?
Unit Quantity Not Showing for Zero Troops Chosen

Also noting in the Roman Principate 260-284 list that the yellow quantity number for units to the left of the - or + buttons is not always showing up (0) for all types. Is this an error or just something that has always been in the series? It would seem that a unit type should always have a quantity of something showing.
Scenario List - Option for Sort by Date

At some point in time it would be nice to be able to sort the Scenario List by date. This helps us to be able to pick a scenario from a particular period rather than just by date. Also by Module would be nice too.
FOGNET - Error Msg

UnsupportedFormatException
1.4.5 2011-02-08
{}
What is FOGNET and what is it's use? Why did I get this error msg when opening up FOGNET.exe?
Sorry, never used it before and just wanted to see how it worked.

1. Fognet can only be loaded from within the fOG game. It is the on-line multiplayer engine.
2. Scenarios can be sorted by date. Just click the date column in the scenario list.

Note - we have not added any scenarios yet - only the armies. Scenarios will come soon!

Outstanding. Any chance of having the scenarios that you add the ONLY ones in the list? Maybe an engine change to the game that allows for BETA scenarios to be in their own folder and if you are BETA testing then you only see that folder's scenarios?

Having a filter to group scenarios with an expansion might be nice or maybe having them tagged in some way so you can filter the name list. E.g. "LT Battle of XXX" for Legiosn Triumphant battles and "RR Battle of XXX" for Rise of Rome

A Those and many other troop types are in a group section (see the gold border as you select the group) and the sum of all BG's selected in the group contribute towards the group allowance usage.

I did a quick check of the Arab Allies in the Roman Principate 197-217 army and the following occured:
(in the first Group for the Arabs)
1. I chose 1 for the Arab Light Horse.
2. I chose 2 for the Arab Cavalry (last one).
3. I removed the 2 for Arab Cavalry.
4. I tried to add them back again. The game would not allow it. I cannot add in any more for that Group of units.
I cannot zero out the Arab Light Horse to create 3 Arab Cavalry units (either of them in this case). The ability to change the quantity seems to have locked up.

It seems to be fine for me. What is your Arab Ally set as? I made mine camelry and then I could add/change/delete the horse in every possible combo including none.

Please note that you will only be able to play multiplayer against other users on the LT beta test.
Is this true?
I built a Legion in DAG legions triumphent!
picked an AI battle opponent British(early)
Won the inititave , got a choise of 4 maps (sweet!)
Threw some piliums at British Chariots.
I know what I'll be doing for the next week or so.
I have never played this game multi player.
Maybe soon

Choice of maps is nice, but I'm still not sure how beneficial it is... For example, I'm playing my first multiplayer game right now against Blathergut. He won the initiative, and picked a map with two hills in the middle. Great choice, only... I get to go first, and double-moves is turned on. Needless to say, I just charged up the hill; our start points were near enough to the centre that I got ontop of the nearest hill in one turn, and am at the base of the second hill.
I still reckon that if you win the initiative, you should go first. I like being able to pick a map (tested it against AI), but how about letting us pick the map and go first so that we may use the advantages of the map?

Perhaps I am dumb but I fail to see how changing the type (cavalry to camelry) makes a difference. The Group lists as 0-3 for the three types. Thus I should be able to zero out one and add in the 3 to another type within the same group. I am not getting a game error when loading the game or anything else like that. I suppose I should try playing a game next but was going through the armies first.

Double Moves as an Option - all a matter of personal choice. Frankly I am now mixed on it. I think that it rewards the player that paid for the better leaders but on the other hand may give too much "in-game" flexibility to a side. But I do use it and yes, the new ability will be interesting to try out. Not sure why initiative in a battle should have anything to do with choice of map. Initiative and choice of terrain should be as such: player that chooses the map does NOT have the initiative. That would simplify the process. But understand the designer's intent here ...
Its great to be part of this team btw. For almost over 12 years I have been a Scenario Designer for another software company but have yet to land a Playtester/Beta Tester role. This is nice for a change!

I think this gives too much to the one player. You get your map but the other guy gets something too bby moving first. You know this going into the map choice!

What I meant was, if your Arab Ally Gen is set to be cavalry...then down in the list you can't get rid of that one. I am able to choose 3 of one...then zero it out...then choose 3 of another....zero it out...choose the original 3 again...etc.
great expansion

i have just downloaded the beta file. everything went by the book.
The only problem is that i cannot decide on the army list. i am currently playing with an early principate roman army 750 points again. GREAT!
i ESPECIALLY liked the terrain option!!!!
