Okay, so having tried ye olde "pound one flank with everything four-legged thingie I have," I think the next battle to defeat the poodle will involve a massive centre push with double lines.
The flanks never seem to finish up in time, so why not let them be the delaying part while my infantry gloriously go through anything poodle in the middle??
Have the rest of you been finding the same?

Above said strategy has required even more infantry to be painted in the never-ending arms race. Curse the poodle!

Curse animal haters who disguise themselves as Gauls!!!
Now I know why you wanted to jump up to 900 points and tried to talk me into wasting points on putting armour back on my Cavaliers. If I were not so far behind in finishing things up I would begin sticking together some more troops myself. Bring on your double lines I will smash them in and then flank you with the mounted
Its gotta work at least once one would think....

My games have all been decided on the flanks by the mounted, one way or another.

oddly enough our cav flanks normally end up in a slug match stale mate while the center falls apart, so far cavalry has never been a deciding factor for us. Could be that other than armour we are evenly matched for POA's.... who knows?
