Now after two titles of the commander series, i dont want to say i know what to expect, but this being the Lordz Games Studio i guess your guy's 1st shot at the series. Any time we can expect a Beta. I see a link on the main forum, but no news. Also is there some special req. for a B-tester, i mean i have played games long enough to spot F-ups & glitches, any answers to both questions would be great. Thanks

When we are ready to go into Beta testing, here will be a public announcement made here at Slitherine. If you are a registered member here, all you will have to do is to agree online to a standard NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement).
Normally the registration and recruiting period is open for several weeks creating a pool of Beta testers.

The first Beta group is usually quite small and we add more and more testers with every new build. People in the pool get notified by email when they are selected, selection is totally at random with the exception of a few known, veteran or in house testers, but those are normally already added in the first test group.

We try to get a good mix of young and old, newcomers and veterans, people on high end and low end machines. And add more and more coming closer to Gold.

If all goes as planned CTGW registration and recruiting could begin in March, so end of April we can go into Beta.

Cheers,

Tim aka LZ

yea i figured the more well known testers & such r good for the 1st picks, but if the basic principle is checking for errors/problems/ai & all that stuff, then i,m looking forward to it in the future. thanks for at least (atThisTime) a date to look forawrd to

Next week we start with the first test group of selected pre-Beta testers, from than on we will crank out new builds every two weeks.

Beta recruitment will start end of this months, and we will go into official Beta end of April.

Depending on bugs, balancing, feedback it is one straight line from Beta to Gold, from experience we count on around 8 weeks from the beginning of Beta to get the game into a finished Gold state.

This is our battle plan for CTGW.

CTGW is still in a rough alpha state, the testers will mostly serve to provide feedback on AI behaviour and general design at the moment. So it will be a bit longer before the beta testing group is expanded with more casual players.

The "Buy here when available" link on the Lordz Games Studio website takes me to a Slitherine page that lists the release date as 15 March 2011.

For both this game and the Panzer Korps game, I got the idea from your website that these were just about to be released, but then the forum discussions here seem to paint a much different picture....

Now, that is not to say that I am complaining about doing a thorough job developing a solid product (I wish all developers would do that....ahem, Paradox! (coughs)) but you might want to update your websites to reflect the time frame.

Slitherine tends to forget to update their product pages from time to time, hint, hint Iain...

We just returned from an International European press event in Varese, Italy, organised by Slitherine/Matrix to show a few of the upcoming games to the media.

We showed Panzer Corps and Commander: The Great War more in detail and in person to some specialized international wargaming journalists and game media.

Thanks to Slitherine and the attending journalists. Stay tuned for features, previews and new screenshots!

if you had to give a percentage on how complete the game is, what would it be?

Posted: Wed Jul 13, 2011 5:50 am
by lordzimoa
90%, but the last 10% is always the hardest, than the balancing, polishing, Beta feedback, improving... begins. So we can go from a rough diamond to a finished polished and stable game.

We delayed CTGW to finish PzC first and sadly we had already announced CTGW. A mistale we will not make again, so our apologies for the delay.

But we are not going to rush out an unfinished bug-feast of a game, so give us a few months and I`me sure in the end our customers will appreciate the effort.

Thanks for the feedback! I've been looking forward to this one for awhile now. Beta testing Panzer corps was awesome, even got my dear old dad into it, i think he's storming England at the moment(veteran of the old PG) either way, i raise my glass to this one for the future. Cheers

Rats!
I’m on vacation next week – camping in the woods – no internet.
If you pick me for Beta, will you at least give me a chance to get home before closing the door on me?
