Don't you just love rolling 1's on your death rolls, I was heartbroken in our third game at Usk in the shooting turn the player oppisite fired his big guns got a hit I roll a one, next turn he fires again another hit and another 1 on the dice.

Nothing wrong just thought it was funny, O how I do like the death roll, wonder what the anicent crowd would do if you dropped the +2 on shooting. :) :) :)

Dave, if you think back to our practice game at Britcon last year you will remember me doing something similar.

IIRC in FoG:AM you don't get the shooting +2 if fired at by Arquebus. I think that is part of Pete Dalby's tactics with Ottomans.

If testing cohesion from shooting including firearms, there is an additional -1 on the cohesion test in FoG-AM. Firearms do not affect the +2 death roll modifier. that's only in FoG-R to reflect more effective firearms than in FoG-AM.

When we did Breitenfeld a unit of German Horse in swedish service, took 2 hits in the first two turns from a couple of guns at extreme range, being Average and 4 strong they went!

One of those games where one seems to roll and re roll nothing but 1s and 2s and the opponent nothing but 5s and 6s!

I actually think this is one of the best bits of FoG:R, in that a couple of 1's can end up with you needing to change your entire plan to react to unforseen circumstances.

Given there is pretty much always a low level of shooting going on somewhere, it's like having random plan-changing events scattered across the board, and applying equally to both players. It sort of brings back the "oh no, crap pips - and just when I wanted to attack!!" element of DBx games

Deadtorius is running at about 100% for rolling a 1 everytime his superior cavaliers tests for 1 hit from shooting.

Now if only I can learn to start rolling 2's for my cavaliers they might actually be strong enough to do something for me. I am finding that I would rather close quickly and get into dirty melee's than stand back and get shot.
