Dear ladies and gentlemen, enjoying the game very much for the last year. tried something new and did NOT take london, just took everything else in UK. Now it seems the convoys dont know to go to USA. I am playing the 1939 scenario. I am stuck at set convoy destination screen. Please see below:
Exception in thread "Thread-7" java.lang.arrayindexoutofboundsexception: -1 at game.Game.setConvoyDestination(Game.jav:1671)
at game.Game._$4412(Game.jav:1702) and so on with differing $numbers for 3 more lines until it ends with
at game.Game.run(Game.java:9984)

do you have a for me to edit the save file to give back Galsgow so i can continue the game or a patch to allow the game to continue from this convoy error please ?

I would be pleased to send the save game file if it helps to diagnose. I can be reached at blobclark@yahoo.com

many thanks !! respectfully yours, Bob

Are you playing the standard game (i.e., MH 1.12) or the GS expansion. If you're playing the GS expansion have you patched 1.06 to 1.07? If not check here: viewtopic.php?p=165251#165251

Thanks for the info. I am playing the standard game at ver 1.12 .
I also mistyped my original post. meant to say " utility to change the save game file , so I can basically give back Glasgow" . It seemed this started when I failed to take london and bypassed that city but instead took glasgow.

as mentioned before, i can certainly send the save game file if it helps.

It would be great to find a routine similar to a control break or some kind of if else statement that allows the game to go on past this convoy problem.

sorry , i am not a programmer simply a network technician and so i have no idea how difficult this is in java.

yours, Bob clark

Hi Blobclark

it sounds like this is a rare bug in the base game not the GS expansion. The team are not really able to help on any bugs in the base game. The original developer no longer works on the game as it was released 4 years ago and it's generally impossible to fix these issues after the event anyway. Usually the best you can hope for is to prevent it happening in a future game. I know its very frustrating but I'm not sure there is anything the team can do to help :(

Sorry for the bad news.

Thanks Mr McNeil. appreciate the reply. I would think somebody retained the code listings and somebody at the firm sellling / creating this game would know java and support that platform as new modules or new games are being developed on it. I also read on another post that the gold or the GS is not supported as that is volunteer based but that the original game is supported for fixes and upgrade. now i am totally confused. I am sure that not only the designer knows the game or the listing or java sir. If the will existed , it could be fixed by what is known as a "one liner". I work a tiny bit with linux and have written catch routines to allow exceptions to be bypassed or continue rather than bombing out what project I am working on sir.

respectfully yours,

Bob Clark

Commander was developed Firepower - a one man team. He no longer works in games so there is nobody to do any adjustments to the title unfortunately. He supported the game for about 2 years after release but no longer has interest to do so.

The sequel is Commander the Great War and in development with a different company using a completely different code base.
