Game rules in GS v2.00

We've added support to alter game rules in GS v2.0 from the Game Setup Panel instead of just using general.txt. Right now we have the following options to choose from:

In the game options you can turn on/off graphics for XP dots and entrenchment dots. So those of you who don't like them can turn them off and the choice you made is stored in settings.txt so they stay off similar to choosing NATO counters instead of images.

We also made it possible to show the game rules shown at any time. You just enter the Statistics screen and left click to get the game setup screen shown with the choices originally made.

The Allied player can load this screen to verify the game rules chosen are the ones agreed with the Axis player. You can also verify that the advantage is off. In the below example we see that the German player decided to start the game with a moderate Axis advantage and some rules turned off.

Wow! Now that's some serious "customer service". May I just take my hat off to the team for doing this. Thank you.

_augustus_ //Who most likely prefers all the options on, but making the extra effort and allowing players to get rid of features they might find niggling is extremely admirable.

Yes, this is great! I was wondering if would try GS 2.00 and then end up going back to 1.07. But there is no need to with all these options. It reminds me of some of those old boardgames with all the "Optional Rules" in the back. :D

Wow! This looks extremely promising. It would be nice to know which options are turned on/off when testing for game balance?

Hi,
The first screen shows the default values for testing for game balance.

We are not testing purchase Russian Guards (They earn Guards status through combat)

and Paratrooper Corps. (which was considered too powerful) The Corps is the equivalent of 3 divisions.

We're in the full testing phase and need to get stats on several games played to their completion in order to assess, and if necessary, tweak game balance.

Now I know no one would post any complaints about the GS not being balance :D ; but all the same we do work hard to try to balance the game as well as trying to make it as historical as possible.

Ah, am just being a 'naggle.' I'd much rather you took the time and made it the best possible!!

But if you can do that by next weekend... 8)

:)

Actually...March Break would be nice!!! Two weeks then to putter and play!!

But ya, I get ya about trying to play through the latter half of the game. It's easy to do through the Fall of France but takes a lot of time and commitment to see through to the Fall of Berlin!!

"Out of supply units lose steps". Does this mean that if I have a unit sealed off from the rest of my army it will slowly disintegrate into nothing over time? Does this apply to airborne units as well?

Yes. Non-partisan & non-airborne ground units will lose 1-step per turn that they're out of supply.

No. Airborne units will never drop below supply level 1.

That option enabled will have a player use less oil if a unit is less than full strength.
