FREE DELEGATE ENTRY PACK: RULES FOR QUALIFICATION

1. The decision of the organisers on all matters relating to free entry is final.

2. Please book early, as all entries to BRITCON, whether on a free package or not are on a first come basis.

3. Free entry is restricted to those who have entered as a residential delegate playing in any period over the last 5 years (from 2006 to 2010).

4. Note that if you do not attend we are still liable for your room booking fee. Therefore in order to prevent speculative entries and subsequent cancellations, please be warned that an application to enter on a “free package” is a legally binding contract and a promise to pay the full value of the package booked if you fail to attend and have not cancelled at least 2 weeks before the event.

5. Free entry is permitted up to the level of the package booked on your most recent BRITCON entry, including days booked and accommodation type. NB Please enclose a post dated cheque (dated 1st August 2011)as a £50 deposit with booking. This will be returned to you uncashed at the event.

6. Delegates claiming free entry must indicate the date of their last BRITCON entry for verification of package.

7. Extra days may be booked at normal rates but accommodation types cannot be upgraded. To calculate extra costs, select the package you now require and deduct the value of your free package. For this purpose no early booking discount applies. Display this calculation on your entry form.

8. All juniors including those who have not previously attended qualify for free entry if accompanied by an adult who qualifies for free entry.

Otherwise entries are allowed as normal and as follows:

Sponsored or reduced entry fees are available to all registered members of the BHGS as at 1st January this year and as follows: Players under 18 years of age are allowed free entry (if 16 years or less must be accompanied by a responsible adult). Also full time students are allowed entry at half price. A discount of £10 per entry may be deducted from any Competitors Convention Package if booked before the 1st July, offers may not be combined.

Entry can only be made by sending payment. No pre booking by e-mail or other means is allowed. Cheques made payable to “BHGS”.

A limited number of day entries may become available on a first come basis, if there are any table spaces available after residential bookings are filled. Announcements concerning this will be made at a later date and they cannot be pre-booked until that time. Players whose permanent home address is a Manchester postal code can enter on a day basis at any time. The cost of a day package is £40.00 and does not include breakfast or parking. Please note that there are no exceptions to this rule.

Best Regards

If this is meant to attract new people it really misses the mark. Nowhere in it does it actually say what Britcon is and what's on offer.

Now if it is merely meant to appeal to people who have been before then I'm sure it's great... although why not e-mail them directly.

The trailing . had been integrated in to the link by the forum software (it is old software :))

Here is an alternative link - http://www.bhgs.co.uk/Nationals/IntroPage.htm

Britcon is a big event for tabletop gamers of all types to compete. It covers Ancient to Napoleonic & WW2. Fantasy & Sci Fi, Blood Bowl etc. It is a residential tourbnament meaning you have to stay on campus to compete. It's a pretty special event.

I've only just read the reply from Iain, I guess it must've been accidentally marked as read sometime.

Thanks Iain, that link explains what it is. It sounds interesting, it's a shame that it is 200 miles away :(
