Support Shooting by DISR unit

If a unit is charged on a 2 base frontage and would normally be entitled to 4 Impact dice and 2 dice of support shooting... how many dice to do I get if DISR? Do I have 6 total dice and have to lose 2, or do I lose 1 in 3 Impact dice (1), and 1 in 3 SupShooting dice (0) and roll a total of 3 and 2?

I saw the FAQ said they are treated as normal... but it wasn't clear to me if they were dealt with as a total.

Thanks,
James

Ask Hammy, this is one thing he is good at explaining. But in your example one of each is lost. however, If only 1 front rank base was contacted it gets difficulter, but you would be left with 1 front and 1 shooting base.

Thanks. I read an extended thread here on dice loss so I understand that... I just didn't recall a mention of Support shooting and didn't know if it was two separate pools of dice or one big pool when doing the reductions for DISR (or anything else).

Its one big pool, but then those on different POA are lost by proportion

You have 6 dice and need to lose 2.

These are 4 dice who might in this example need 4s and 2 who need 5s.

Easiest thing to do when playing is put out the dice. Then lose 1 per 3.
Take 3 of the 4 dice to one side and lose 1 of these.
This leaves 1 dice needing a 4 and 2 dice needing a 5. As there are more dice needing a 5 you lose one of these.

Leaving 3 dice needing a 4 and 1 needing a 5.

Hope this helps.

Or another approach: 3/1 is nearer to the the exact 2:1 of 2,67/1,33 ratio than 2/2.
