Hey guys,

If you have a 8 base BG of warriors counting swordsman vs a 6 base BG of pike n shot ( both BG's in two ranks), do the swordsman count as double + including the overlap or just the overlap base counts as te double + :?:

The overlap will get one die at++. For the POA's of the other six use the rest of the melee chart (in other words, variable: armor? p/s steady? etc.)

Warrior armies are about trying to put the enemy in the position of being either overstretched or enveloped on the grand tactical level and gaining ++ overlaps on the minor tactical level. I found hitting a PIke and Shot BG with two Warrior BGs 3 deep that that both gain overlaps in melee is very effective. The extra depth is to replace losses - the Pike and Shot formation starts to lose dice as soon as it takes a base loss, and also comes apart quickly if it is no longer steady and its POA edge crumbles. Warriors being cheaper than Pike and Shot, this kind of double-teaming should be feasible somewhere.

I also have a kind word for skirmishers willing to stand and soak up the pre-charge shooting to keep the warriors intact.
