No morale reduction for French units

This has been stated before but i didn“t see it bt myself till now. On third mission (defending the town). Fire with the captured FT17 at an incoming H35 at 3 squares from a flank. Hit and "deflected" but no reduction of morale at all. This makes difficult to stop the french tanks.

sounds normal ....
Get closer, range 2 or less, beyond that, your damage = 0.
Check the chance-to-kill tootip value ... divide by 4 (round down) ... equals morale loss.
If your damage is greater than 0, add 10 to the morale loss.
Since your damage = 0, and assuming the chance-to-kill is less than 4% ... well, ping ... no drop.
EDIT : Remember, to increase chance-to-kill you have to increase your chance-to-hit.
EDIT #2 : Of course, if you're talking about the French not getting scared ... that's another issue altogether.

Umh, i thought that any not-penetrating hit would always drop the morale (fine tactic to defeat the biggest tanks)

me too .... My formula above isn't precise ... there's another variable thrown in (I think)... but it's close.
I've also seen morale drop for a complete miss ... It appears that damage (Ap effectiveness at the 4 ranges) play a major role.
The chance-to-kill seems a factor too ... if you can't kill me, I'm not going to be scared no matter how much noise the shell makes.
