Which do people suggest ?

I have Arab figures & want to try the North African States list and was wondering which option was best to take.

Also how do the Spear units deal with shot & pike ?

Cheers

Well they may suffer base or cohesion losses on the way in, but unless the pikes are 4 ranks deep they are equal in close combat.

So probably put them in 8 base BGs and deploy them 3 wide. Then you have 2 spares to soak up base losses. (But are more vulnerable to artillery fire).

And unless I have read it wrong, warriors don't move by division, so they only get a single 4" move per turn unless they have a general attached to the unit ?

I had noticed that warrior restriction too, makes them some what slower to get to where the action is I guess. Makes sense since the term does not bring to mind drilled organized troops.

Can warriors be support troops? OR develope slower moving tactics. I think I will be staying away from using "warriors".

They can support other warriors I guess. Going to try them out some time in the new year and will see how they fair. I doubt they are game winners, but at 4 pts might be ok filler.

I believe they can support other troops, its just they cant form divisions for the mass extra moves

Why wouldn't they be able to support? They are not Light Troops and they are Battle Troops, are they not?

Spear armed warriors don't have to pursue like their IF bretheren. That is good.

Good luck with the sand dune(?) battle(s). I have some Arabs, foot and mounted. Sadly they would "need" to hire shooters who require black powder.

My reading is slowed down due to post Christmas honey do this requirments. Still, no major "don't understand what they means" in the FoGR rulebook.
