HULL DOWN ... modifier

Pip,

When I first started my TrackHit! mod, I wanted to create a hulldown status for tank targets on a hill.

I figured out that I could create a new tile set with the suffix "hill". These duplicate tiles would be placed only on a hilltop. When the final hit logic rolls, it checks me and the target's tile # and if the targets tile is a hill tile, and me not (good English eh?, you understand though :wink: ) then the target is hulldown ... turret hits only.

Anyway, I didn't pursue this (for now), but .... I'm wondering, is there some super secret, deep and dark, criptic script that can be used instead of my smoke and mirrors?

I mean, the cursor tooltip knows it's a hill, your engine knows it's a hill ... I feel left out! :wink:

Hmmm - not currently I don't think. I will add the ability to query the height of a tile to the todo list, ready for the next update.

Oh ... cool ... that was easy :wink:

That will save some long winded, file intensive, scripting!

Besides, in an unmodified BA, there appears that there isn't an advantage for being on a hill, other than being HIDDEN. Even a basic mod (perhaps official change) to help unit's on a hilltop might prove it's worth later on!

Thanks again! Please, don't make it a priority ... you need to fix the M8_Greyhound and the Sherman Jumbo first!!!!!

I'm certain we fixed the jumbo? Unless it's another issue that happens we updating directly from a new install using the patch or BF installers? Or did you update?

I haven't checked 1.5.1 .... v1.5 was still broke ... acting like a non-turreted AFV .... Not my mod effecting it either ... Wasn't it a model problem?

I'm using 1.5.1 now ...
My model date for the Sherman Jumbo shows ... 10/20/2010

I confirm with 1.5.1 and BF that the jumbo rotates the hull with the turret. Never independent.
