Just got the Slitherine newsletter and although I've been trying to resist buying any new games until next year the potential discount of 20% on made me hit the Buy Now button, unfortunately I think I misread the newsletter as the discount code doesn't appear to apply to buying BF by itself.
Is the 20% discount only applicable if you buy BF bundled with a purchase of BA.
Great deal for new purchasers of BA + BF with a combined price of c£24 but a bit gauling for those of us who bought at release and will be paying c£41 for the same thing particularly given this quote in the newsletter "All of this is only possible because of the support of our fans and we would like to say a special thank you to you all with a gift token worth $20, €15 or £12.50. "
PS bring back Sterling prices.
PPS sorry for the rant !

I the USA BF is $14.99 so the discount is about $3
I can't buy a gallon of gas (petrol) most places with that.

I'm with Wolfe1759 - must admit I was a bit surprised/put out when I saw the gift voucher was only valid for digital BA; especially when it started with it was a way to say thanks to supporters. I saw the subject line and thought 'great what can I treat myself to ... WitE or FoG? Decisions! Decisions!' I was crushed

I know what Junk say's is true and the BA & BF are great value ... and if it brings more to the the game, happy days. I'm just giving some feedback on the way I took the mail.
Cheers

I have another discount voucher issue (don't know if it can be remedied though...):
Today I finally decided to buy BA+BF.
However, I had no knowledge of the discount voucher that was in the newsletter today (hadn't checked my mail yet...).
So I just ordered BA+BF the normal way (with a small discount for BF because I bought them together).
Then I went to my mailbox, and saw that I had missed the discount mentioned in the newsletter (sent to me 2 hours or so before I decided to buy BA+BF on my own

).
Mildly miffed at myself now. I guess I should have checked my mail first, before ordering...
Still, if something could still be done about it, that would be awfully great!...

Yes!
The ones who bought the game or the expansion shouldn't be forgotten!
Hopefully!

I bought the expansion and then the next day I get the email...

The coupon is only valid on BA not the expansion. We'll work out what we can do for those who already have BA.
The issue is we can only offer this kind of discount on a game we develop & publish or we have to get the developer to agree (and no time for that now) so it might be limited to the Slitherine developed games and some of the old ones are less than $20 so we might have to make it worked at a lower level on the old ones.
If we could make it work as a 50% discount on any Slitherine developed game would that make people happy? E.g. Legion, Spartan, Great Battles etc.

The token is now valid for :
Chariots of War
Cult of Mithras
Gates of Troy
HISTORY Egypt Engineering an Empire
HISTORY Great Battles Medieval
THE HISTORY CHANNEL Great Battles of Rome
Legion Arena
Legion Gold
Spartan
Battlefield Academy
For anything other than BA it gives 50% off.
Each coupon can be used twice.

Iain
Seems more than fair, thank you.
Only problem is I all-ready own all the games, however as its this time of year I think I'll use the discount to buy BA as a gift for a couple of friends.
Quick question on this if I do buy as a gift do I just email my friends the download link and reg number I assume I'll be emailed if I purchase, just want to make sure I don't inadvertently end up with a total of 3 copies of BA that only I can use.
Second question - if I bought the BA+BF bundle could I send the BA part of the bundle as a gift to a friend and keep the BF part to add to my copy of BA - not too bothered if I can't as this side of the pond the 20% discount equates to about a Litre of petrol (gas) but if I can I may as well.

Hi Iain
That's great - thanks for responding so quickly and positively. Now where was I? Decisions! Decisions!

You should be fine using the BF serial you get and giving your friend the serial for BA. If you have 1.5 already you can just pop in the serial and go.
Cheers

I thought I'd take advantage of the offer.

After all the e:mail said I'd get 50% off and BA would only cost 12.50. Unfortunately that's not the way it works. The voucher is "worth" $20.00. Which means that once the jiggery pokery has been applied the cost is not £12.50 as advertised but £14.68.

Ho Hum.

If anyone has a spare "other half" of a coupon that they won't be using, this could be just the opportunity for me to get started with this. Please PM me if you are willing... thanks

No where in the email that I received does it say half off or 50%.

Pip - that seems to have worked - BA download/reg emailed as a present and in the process of downloading BF now - thanks
EDIT no need to download the expansion - just put in the serial number and its ready to go - couldn't be simpler
junk2drive - it does however say "5. Get Battlefield Academy for only $19.99, €14.99, or £12.50." which isn't what any purchaser (at least in the UK) will end up paying. Again I'd say go back to giving us prices in Sterling including VAT i.e. the price we as customers are actually going to pay - seeing something advertised for one price and then ending up paying a higher price is highly irritating.

I had to look again. At the bottom it does say what you wrote.
At the top it says
"... a special thank you to you all with a gift token worth $20, €15 or £12.50. "
I never noticed that it was different at the bottom.
Seems it would have been easier had it been like FoG and 50% off.

This is for Ian specifically. I didn't get any coupon, not looking for any coupon either Ian
Thanks for giving the hobby a great game all that worked on it. I had zero problems dropping down my 15 bucks. Grabbed the download not 5 minutes before I turned in for that night actually. The day had been total crap till that download came up on my radar

Was a nice way to make the day right hehe.
Your game has been both the most economical purchase of the year for me (even including the expansion) and has also been the best purchase of the year for me.
The only way you can improve on 2010, is to put something out on the Nintendo DS in 2011

The coupons should give £12.50 off - they did when we tested it. If not its a bug but not one we can do anything about right now so it's either go with what it says or don't buy unfortunately
