Landing Craft Boat

I found a nice 3D model of landing craft boat :
http://www.turbosquid.com/3d-models/fre ... del/222609
I downloaded the trial version of 3DSMAX, and I get the export script. After a few try (I know nothing about 3D

), I have the following result:

The boat is an object, not a vehicule (because i can't do animations). The textures will probably be reworked, but I also wonder if the model is not too small.
So what do you think?
I also wonder if I have the right to use/share this model ... it is clear that you may use it for personal use. But is this the case?

I believe all the content at turbosquid can be used in non commercial ways. As long as Slitherine doesn't use it in official content you should be ok to use it and share with others.
See my posts about getting boats to move on water.

Very cool! It might be too small for our outsized infantry, but have you seen the houses they live in

.

@ Pip :
Good news, here are many interesting things, and I still have 28 days trial

So, yes two days for the boat
I'll see how boats move on water.
The editor is wonderful and powerfull. I found that you could do a lot with scripts, but it's great to be able to add their own models.
Also worked on the textures, to create the French troops to my future scenario:

French Commando is a British Para with new texture, French Infantry is an US ranger, French Mortar is a British Mortar, French Bren is a British Bren, French Piat is a British Piat, French Flamethrower is a British Flamethrower and French Jeep is the Tim's long range desert jeep.
It's much easier (for me) and working on new textures on 3D models. For infantry I think the result is pretty good.

Looks good so far.
The size/scale is fine with me. I suggest that you copy the M3 halftrack line from the csv and add it to your csv. Then change the name, ID number, type, icon ID and AssetFile. It can use the same armour and machine gun.
Then add the info to the text1. Create the icon pngs.
Use the animation text file from the M3 HT and rename it. I don't think it needs a drop down ramp or MG, just gunflash.
Add Boat to every terrain in the terrain.txt or I can send you mine.
Ask if you need help.

Superb! I love the French Commandos - especially now you can have French voices from Blitzkreig! The landing craft looks the right size - however I would make the texture a lot lighter grey - looks very dark. Looking forward to DDay French style
Good idea to get the trail version of Max and have 30 days to play with it. My version of Max is old and I couldn't import the models properly so I've ended up making my own and animating but once you have the base files you can make most things.

A converter for a free package is still on my list, just such a lot of other stuff we want to do! It's a massive pain that it's not even simple to get the assets into another package, even before I begin trying to build an exporter for it...
