I have more than enough practice painting 28mm Perry and Kingsford Samurai (350+ figs painted and counting). But I just got a 800 point Japaese 15mm army and well, I am stumped. I know colors of armor and cloth and all that but my question is. How do I make the "pop"? My 28mm are really, really nice (not my words, other peoples word). So I would like to make my 15mm look impressive.

Any thoughts? And no sending them to Sir Lanka is not on the table

Your 15mm Samourai, what period are they from? Pre- / post-1500s?

I guess that the "pop" for the later ones comes with the originality of the back flags, whereas for the earlier ones it's always the intricacy of the multicolor armor which attracts attention.

Figures are two dragons and Old Glory which means in reality they are post 1500. But since I seem to be the only one who knows what the Samurai wore in any period I am using Sashimos with them. I have started making my own as I am not happy with the thickness or size of the lead ones.
