In 1994 Strategic Simulations Inc. (SSI) released a title that would change the face of strategy gaming forever. Panzer General delivered an exceptionally easy to learn gameplay system and was such a captivating game that it became a benchmark for future designers for years to come.

In 2011 a project developed by The Lordz Games Studio and published by Slitherine, will see fans of the series rejoice for the release of Panzer Corps. Following in the footsteps of the popular SSI masterpiece and sharing with the General series the same level of engagement and strategic depth, Panzer Corps will keep an unmistakable "PG feeling" whilst improving and refining the gameplay and balance.
Iain McNeil, director of Development at Slitherine said: "With this game we are trying to bring the golden age of strategy gaming back to its roots. This game is Slitherine's homage to one of the greatest strategy titles of all time and we are working hard to ensure we capture the flavor of that masterpiece, yet update it with features and a graphical style that will appeal to a modern strategy gamer".

Panzer Corps will feature 26 scenarios on 21 unique maps, covering most major battles of the European Theatre of World War II and including a few hypothetical 'what if' scenarios based on your actions.

Tim van der Moer, Managing Director of the Lordz Games Studio said: "There are many World War II strategy games out there, but Panzer Corps will blow you away. We are putting all our efforts to make a memorable game, that can stand the test of time the way Panzer General did".

I'm seeing a lot of popular response to the announcement on other gaming haunts for wargamers.

Wargaming has not lost a love of wargaming in this style clearly.

Well this game is on my must have list from the screenshots alone. I always loved the first PG game, it had a boardgame look and feel, but wished it was a little deeper. Looks like you took care of that issue. I also wished for a modern setting, such as the cold war, but with the original interface. I didn`t really care for Peoples General, with the Chinese and all that. Any plans on doing a modern version next?

I did not mind it. Anyhow, China is the worlds newest super-power, and 99% of Americans haven't come to that realization yet. Just take one quick look at the new armada the Chinese navy has on order (forget about the overwhelming numbers of everything else). Once again, SSI was ahead of its time...

Yes, the Chinese are a force to be reckoned with to be sure, but I would prefer to play with Russia toys at the height of their military power.

This announcement has gotten my strategic and tactical mind working again. I just can't wait for this game; any good ideas to tide me over until it is released? I tried running Panzer General and PG II on my Windows 7 machine with no luck. Oh well. Maybe I can find something similar with your suggestions. Regards.

I`me not aware of any official release date being set?

A final official release date has never been announced in public. Maybe there is a typo on the website? Or on the product page there was a date that should not be there in the first place... We hoped end Q1, it will be most likely end Q2, or sooner or later... well as long at there is no official date set in a press release all other dates are speculation.

When a release date is set definitely, you will find it all over the press. We are in full Beta and heading towards Gold, so the game will be announced soon...

We normally only set a real date when it is 100% sure we can make it, all other is estimation, hope and yes we hit delays, bugs, another game in the publishers release schedule that gets priority...

You will know when as we will scream it all over the rooftops! :D

Thank you for info lordzimoa the release date was posted here http://computergames.ro/ro/stiri/viewit ... ntid-34426 . It was a romanian news but i think they had no real feedback on the real release date they just made it up :( .
Do you know if the game will be launched also on steam digitally?

p.s.: Anychance for more beta testers ? :D Or for an open beta in the future... or a demo?

Cheers!

Ah, I see well that was a bit of speculation I guess from their side.

The game will be digitally available, released through the Slitherine and Matrix shops, not on Steam.

You can still apply for Beta, but we have already a very big pool of volunteers. However we add new Beta testers with every new build and the groups we add also grow in size as the game gets more and more in a finished state.

The selection is at random from the pool of registered volunteers.

Open Beta will not happen, about a demo it is too early to tell really. It would require a custom made campaign to represent the gameplay throughout the game so it's not likely to happen before the release. At the moment we just concentrate on getting Panzer Corps from Beta to Gold and on all your machines. ;-)

Hi all, PG is one of my favorite strategy and look forward to the revival of the style. After reading the forum here curious about the outcome, I am a bit disappointed the lack of fight scenes, every time I play it I have it on, it revived the atmosphere. Good luck.

Thanks

I would just like to say thank you for developing this game. I heard about this game in a recent WWII magazine review. I absolutely loved PG2 and I am waiting for this game with much anticipation! Looks amazing so far.
