Artillery bases for 25mm....80mm deep!?!

Um...page 164 seems to indicate that (for 25-28mm figs) the artillery is to be mounted on bases of 80mm! This seems rather excessive for things like light guns...and heavy guns...

Any chance that it's a misteak, er, mistake? :?

thats the size of them alright. I am using warlord 28mm and their gun and crew takes up the whole base, if you want you can probably get 2 light gun models on a single base or add in some gabions full of earth out front. Might seem big but the extra depth is nice when you put the gun model down.

I think that 30mm is sufficient for light guns, 60mm is plenty for mediums and maybe 80mm+ for reqally large heavy guns. I know ours are small 25's (older) when they actually measured them from foot to head, but really authors...80mm?...Really? :)

We've had no problem with it, except for the little glitch of foot not making it through. We're playing that they get the extra 5mu movement. But size-wise, it would be tricky to fit the things on anything smaller without the barrel sticking out.

I just tried to place some of my Foundry Landsknecht guns, and they surely need all of the 80mm and will protrude a bit. Placing the GW cannons is worse. Of course the light or medium guns as provided by TAG or the Hackbut from Pro Gloria leave some room for scenery.
