Double moves

Quick question, perhaps my mind is not getting the whole concept here but in our game today Blathergut had a unit of 2 commanded shot with a general attached behind them between two cuirassier. They were all touching bases, and he decided to move the cuirassier a normal move of 5 Mu then use the general to move the commanded shot at a double move of 6 MU. Is that possible or would you have to do the cuirassier and commanded shot as a single division move?

Trying to figure out if he is a tactical genius or just discovered a whole new cheese move to get his commanded shot to keep up with the horse.

It is entirely possible, although why he didn't just move the cuirassier and commanded shot together as a division twice escapes me.

The cuirassiers (if I remember right) were up ahead a bit...within 6mu of enemy, but the commanded shot was further back, out of 6...or something like that.

I hope you remembered that 2nd moves cannot start, end or go within 6MU of the enemy.

yep...i just don't remember the exact reason for not moving all three 2paks together...oh...no i do...the righthand BG of cuirassiers was up against some horse...so no base width in between to allow for division move...so it moved normal 5mu...its companion cuirassiers moved 5mu and the 2pak commanded shot tucked in between them did a double to keep up

Blathergut had almost all his cav on that flank so it was quite the jumbled up mess of horses make for a big traffic jam, worked for me in the end :D

Unfortunately I was thinking FOG A/M and only did a double move with my Cavaliers on the opposite flank....
