Hello all.
I have just posted an improved version of the Army List Generator on the club website;
http://www.badwargamers.org.uk / downloads.
After some feed back I have added more rows. You will also find Initiative, Territory and Deployment are now included.
I have Moved the BG# column in preparation for the detached shot version - its not there to confuse.
Can someone confirm that Naval units do not count as a BG and therefore is not part of the deployment.
Thanks

Page 178 covers naval deployment, they go down when you place your fortifications.
Naval units do not count towards the army break point.

Looking great Paul.
But I don't seem to be able to type anything into the territory type boxes.
Another useful feature would (if possible) be to automatically set the print area to stop below the last used line. If that is not possible, then at least the restriction that currently appears to be preventing cells from being selected should be removed, so that the print area can be reset manually - so as not to include lots of empty lines in the final printout - this in turn allows the printout to use a larger font size, making the final list more easily readable for the optically challenged.
Also, is it possible to have the Troop Name column automatically reset to fit the text in the column? If not could you remove the restriction currently preventing this from being done manually. Some of the troop descriptions in the list books will not fit in the space currently available - it makes a list checker's job a lot easier if people use the exact same troop name descriptions as in the list book.

Great work so far - very handy .
A couple of points I have noticed .
My Dragoons (Dragoon , av , unar, musket ) are being costed at 9 points - the book says 8 .
I'm writing my brigades as one line for MF , one for HF pike . The program is counting each line as a separate BG , even with no BG number next to it . The program won't let me manually correct it or the army's BG total

Give both lines the same BG number and it works.

Territory drop down was accidentally locked when I uploaded the sheet - it is now fixed.
The reason the Musket armed Dragoons are costed at 1 point more is that the sheet sees adjacent blank BG# cells as being the same unit. Gve the units a different number from the pike and the extra point is removed. Lines for the same unit should have the same BG# and follow each other.
Hope this helps
I understand what Richard is saying about the space. The reason the lines are smaller is that it became apparent that some armies would not fit into the lines of the original.
The greatest now challenge is fitting all of the sheet onto one page - I wll have a play about with the formatiing this weekend.
Thanks for the confirmation about the Naval units.

Surely there is no need to do anything to fit it on one page? Isn't it already set to print scaled to one page?
What you don't want is lots of unused lines beyond the used lines printing, however, because that then shrinks the font.

I have a possible solution to the printing issue.
The sheet will allow you to change the page setup (from the File dropdown menu) to print 1 wide 2 tall.
When you have done this go to Page Break View and drag the break to where you want the bottom of the first page. You can then simply print Page 1.
The lines dont always fill the page because they have to keep the width but I think you will find this more legible.
I hope this helps in the short term.

Why can't I set print area? Do the cells need to be locked like they are?

What are the automatic update links in the file?

It is not possible to slect the locked cells within a print area. However there should be no reason to select a print area.
Unlocking functioning cells would open it up to calculation errors which would undermine the integrity of submitted forms.
It is possible to change the fit to 1 page option in the print setup then move the page bereak up to get a bigger printout, if you need one.
I am not sure what you mean about file links - there aren't any, all necessary data is in the workbook. I have also avoided using macros to prevent security filtering blocking functions.
Hope this helps.
