Bases that cannot line up

P 113 has a diagram

I note that this makes it clear that since it can't conform the "minimum" necessary. (p 95) then it does not conform at all.

But then in the feeding bases into cmbat the whole BG will slide over correct? This is now possible as te Horse have conformed in the other direction.

IIRC this has been posted elsewhere jsut clarifiying my understanding.

Dan

Given your three most recent posts, are you perchance a lawyer...?

No but I defeat them regularly!

I am asking in advance so to avoid any oddities, not to create them.

That is correct. (Much debate on this subject on the FOGAM board, but that is the implication of the diagram, which we chose to retain in FOGR to avoid muddying the waters still further).
But then in the feeding bases into combat the whole BG will slide over correct? This is now possible as te Horse have conformed in the other direction.
True. (For reasons which it isn't worth going into in detail).

(However, it is best not to look into the example diagrams beyond the specific point they are making. They are not part of a story, unless they are one of a sequence. Don't worry about how the troops got there, or what happens next.)

Roger, Richard

But it provides a starting place to theorize with a clear set of of facts.

Now, don't get Dave R started on this one again or you won't know a fact from a theory and clearly "clear" is not! :?

Don't worry. Ruddock is always wrong.

But frequently confusing...or at least on the one occasion that I fell victim  to Ruddock-Confusion, which is the very one referenced.

Would a pike and shot BG slide to feed more bases into a melee?

Yes, but only if any of its files are unable to fight in their present position, including as an overlap.

Right so in this position. Where 2 PS units are figthing offset. Meaning each has one base frontage not in front edge combat.

1P1
1P1
_2p2
_2p2

Both will role 5 dice in melee and no one can feed bases in without becoming illegal. So the 6th base awaits victory or the death of its comrades.

This make it worse when you have lost a Pike element to shooting, as then you lose the die and can't feed in.

Life is hard.

Then you die.
