F2 Doesn't Do Screen Capture

At least not on my fairly recent Dell laptop. Running Vista. Looked in the folder indicated and don't find any image file. Is that the correct hotkey? Has anything changed with the most recent BA update? I would like to be able to grab a screen shot now and then.

Thanks for any help.

I have XP Home and F2 gives me a tga file that Paint or Paint.Net won't open.

I use the PrtScn to copy, open MS Paint and paste then save as jpeg.

For more than one shot I use UOSU, an old utility program.

On laptops you may have to hold the FN (Function) key to get the function buttons to work.

Thanks to you both for the help.

Fn plus the F2 key does the trick. :D

I am pretty sure that GIMP should open TGAs. I'm suprised that .NET won't open them. They aren't that well used other than as assets in games, mainly because of a lack of compression I guess. But for games they are nigh-on indispensible.

UOSU Ultima Online Screenshot Utility

You start it and leave it open in the background. Tell it to save to the screens folder. Check jpeg. Set hotkey to prtscn. Set it to auto number. While you are in game, press the prtscn and it makes the jpeg and boink sound so that you know that it worked. You can keep pressing the prtscn as many times as you want.

In Paint.net if by won't open you mean the file will open but it's just showing an empty layer transparent then try this invert alpha plug-in - it's what I'm using.

Just added a new tweak to allow you to output in jpg or png. This also applies when you are doing constant (movie) dumps.

Constant movie dumps ??? Which magical key combination is that?

CTRL+F2 does a constant stream of dumps which can be made into a movie. This can be very slow though - but I have also improved this in the upcoming patch (hopefully, it is very driver dependent).
