easy mode on or off?

maybe a stupid question but is easy mode on when in the options menu I can see "Enable easy mode"? Because I feel that my units hit better then the enemy 
If you click that bar it changes to "turn off easy mode" which means easy mode is now "on". Or at least that's how it is supposed to work.
You should see your units go from 100 morale to 125, IIRC.
