v 1.35 = FIXES REQUESTS FOR NEXT PATCH

i'd like the addition of the following on the next patch. it shouldn't be too hard to add.
1.) Please make it so you can modify the victory conditions so you can "fight to the death?"
What I mean by "fight to the death" is the battle continues till one army is completly defeated.
So many of my battles are glorious, but then one side achieves the "victory conditions" and the battle is over and it leaves me quite unsatisfied to not be able to keep fighting.
Thanks. I am sure this would be much appreciated by all.

FoG v 1.35 - Multiplayer Needs

A few needed muliplayer features:
THE ABILITY TO END AN ONLINE GAME
The ability to "RESIGN" a multiplayer game is needed.
As it is set up now i can't issue or accept any challenges because i have too many open games, most of which i think the opponent has given up and gone away leaving me stuck with an open game and no way to end or cancel it.
**You can resign if it is your turn and can "open" the battle. However, there is no way to resign a game from the multiplayer lobby when it is your opponent's turn.
A MAX TIME PER TURN OPTION
Please also add the ability to set a "Max time per turn" to multiplayer games = could be minutes, hours, days, or weeks.
The ability to set some type of time limit would be nice, because it seems like when guys think they are going to lose they just stop playing rather than finish.
This results in many "open" games that i would just resign or would win by default after a given time limit is reached.
MULTIPLAYER WINS/LOSSES/RATING
why not track these stats? it seems easy enough and would add depth to the multiplayer experience.
thanks for considering these ideas.

Yes, players need this option to continue the battle past the wargame rule induced break-point limit. For examples of battles continuing to the end with the result of one of the belligerents' army being obliterated, one only has to peruse Hannibal's campaign in Italy. Not only were there the battles of the Trebia River, Lake Trasimene, & Cannae, but a good number of subsequent battles in Italy where the Romans lost standard sized armies consisting of 2 Roman legions & 2 Allied legions (alae). Hannibal eliminated, OBLITERATED 3 of these type of armies after Cannae, & soon after Cannae the Gauls in Cisalpine Gaul ambushed & OBLITERATED one of these type of Roman armies in a forest. Additionally, the Romans lost all 4,000 cavalry from one army that was moving to reinforce the consular army that was OBLITERATED at Lake Trasimene, & Hannibal OBLITERATED a near legion size force by ambush that was marching from Tarentum to Bruttia, etc. The Romans managed to OBLITERATE Hanno's 17,000 man Bruttian, Lucanian, Numidian etc. force at 2nd Beneventum in I believe it was 214BC, while Hasdrubal Barca's army was OBLITERATED by the Romans at the Metarus River in 207BC. Yes, fellow players & thy selves game designers et al., WE NEED the choice to continue the battles past the rule standardized break-point limit. WE NEED the CHOICE/OPTION of OBLITERATION, of fighting to the THE END.
Yet, it ends not here fellow citizens.

We also need some form of generic building or clump of buildings for built-up-areas/towns/villages in the map editor, as well as earthen camp ramparts in the same. Plus, the troop unit icons all need to be resized to the same dimensions because some troop unit figures/icons are too big & others too small in comparison to each other.
Not too much ask, nay, too demand

, as these minor add-ons could be quickly accomplished & put in a patch while the designers/producers engaged at such worthwhile endeavors could do this at their leisure while munching sweet, nutritious rice-krispie cakes & whatnots rations. OBLITERATION, at least, is necessary in FoG PC format.

Thanks for the ideas. The next update is more or less complete so these wont be in that but we'll consider them for the future.

Hello Ian, I was once active at the old Legion etc. forums if you remember. Long time no see! FoG is fun & a person can create a multidude of ancient armies from a multitude of ancient cultures. FoG is awarded the title/honor of Multidunous Maximus Magna (similar to M&M's) in my book, problem is I don't know whether to mail you all a gold wreath (spray painted gold oak leaves etc. of course, not the real thing) or just buy another expansion, probably the later will do.
I think that with a few more embillshments & additions FoG would be even more fun & interesting, & many historical modders would have a literal field day, & it would make FoG more attractive to those woh have not purchased it yet.
One more thing, stone town walls would also be great, along with a gate section that is functional as would be the town walls. Maybe give the defenders a +1 or +2 defense bonus of some sort and/or deduct a -1 or -2 from the attackers. Something simple yet functional. maybe a siege tower & a ballista/catapult stone thrower(s) could be added since you already have bolt-throwers in the game. BTW, the Romans called stone throwers ballista & bolt throwers/shooters catapults before a certain date - in earlier times - but reversed the names in later times, maybe in the Late Empire, I can't remember. It just confuses matters, so I call all bolt throwers ballista(e) & all stone throwers catapults as most people do for simplification.
Sparta, Troy, & even the old Legion are still fun

, as are Great Battles series if a person has an older machine for the GB series. Matrix re-released all Tiller's East-West Front games with embellishments & additions, & did the same with Tiller's ACW & Nappy Wars games w/o embellishments & additions (I think w/o anyway), & these classics are still great fun & modding the OOB etc. is easy.

BTW, for the Slave & Penal legions raised by Rome in the 2nd Punic War (there were 2 slave legions - maybe 4 - & 2 penal legions), FoG's Slave HF & MF work well with mainly average ratings & protected armor since captured Gallic & older captured Italian arms were used to equip them, & the legate is either a Slave HF or MF armored or protected type with Of. Spear & average or superior rating. Principes are HF with sword or sword+ & only protected HF, while Hastati are average protected MF with sword with 1out of 3 being poor rating. It's quite historical & works well, although MAYBE just one more Penal/Slave legion type could be added, but not necessary I guess. Even the stock Gladiator General units, both HF & MF look fine, that I use for the generals/legates & tribune leader units.
Maybe the Italian unit types can be expanded a little bit?
I'm looking forward to the update you have already made. Overall, the units react well now, even in evading, but it is good to see the LF get engaged in melee every now & then as they do & have the ability to hit heavier units in the rear & flanks as occasinally s & actually happened in the RW. Works good as is IMHO.

Again, the
REQUEST thread
I'll also add a new Addon column for the Single Player Scenarios list (as in to know which battle was introduced and require which addon, letting the people easily select the needed ones - as in the new ones needing to be tested for SaS).
Also, maybe changing the name on the FoG interface from S_S into SaS..
Also, having the change face action now downgraded to selecting it from the right mouse click pop up menu annoying. THe change facing is an action which is constantly used during a game, while the other pop up menu actions (like place stakes, evade options, etc) are not so often used during a game. I think that letting the change facing on the right mouse click and finding some other way to open the popup menu, like for example a long right mouse click, or even a right mouse hold, would be much better.
