I see bows against heavily armoured foot receive a -- POAs, it means they shoot hitting at 6.
If such as heavily armoured foot is also behind fortification then should be a further -, it means would be ---.
Do we shoot anyway hitting at 6, or in this case we don't shoot at all?

Kept heavy armoured foot behind a fortification is a very extreme tactic, is a total Catenaccio
You can re roll the 6s and looking for 4s to hit.

We always play it that they cannot be hit (this usually arises when heavily armoured foot charge into bowmen in the impact phase - the rear rank shooting has no effect).

It´s only a suggestion, could be a home rule. We used it in several rules set, as POW for example.

IIRC the rules say that -- is the maximum net disadvantage, and ++ is the maximum net advantage that can be obtained. Therefore, it is 6's to hit with bows.

You must play it how you wish but as per the rules I believe you always hit on a 6, unless you're poor when you must re-roll.

I believe you hit on a 6.
