Shifting to create a battle line

I think that general movement should allow a 1/2 base shift sideways to allow a BG to join a battle line/other BG. Exactly as if it were joining it as an overlap in combat.

You can shift half a base to avoid friends. Then end your move when you line up. Shifting the other way is the problem. But if you stay level it doesn't matter, and you cover more of the board. Because when enemy hit friends you can shift to overlap.

Yes but you missout in the first melee round. I thought that it seems to fit in with the ethos of the rules to allow sensible manouvers.

But allowing it would encourage people to move their troops with a half base gap between them, therefore covering more of the table with no down side. Swings and roundabouts...... are some of my favourite toys. But the police told me to stay away.

Yes but when you do your 1/2 base shift then it leaves a gap in the line. It was only an idea I was not expecting the Spanish Inquisition - Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition.........

You are charged with heresy on three counts - heresy by thought, heresy by word, heresy by deed, and heresy by action - no on four counts......
