Planning to visit London in November

I will be going to London in November. Can anyone suggest where I can go to buy some miniatures besides Orc's Nest? I've been to Orc's Nest before but cannot recall if the store had any historical miniatures for sale. I'm hoping there are other stores in London I can visit.

I could also visit ESSEX but so far cannot figure out how to get there via public transit system.

The Tank Museum in Bovington is also another destination I would like to visit. I'm rather confused on how to get there from London. I'm staying at a hotel near Victoria Station. Can someone help me get to the Tank Museum? I've tried to get a train ticket from Southwest Trains but I'm not sure where my starting point would be. The schedule I pulled up also showed a couple of transfers. I was hoping for a non-stop ride.

Thanks everyone!!

By the way, I plan to visit "The Cock" on Tuesday evening. I saw on "madaxeman" website that the group plays every Tuesday evening there. Might just drop by and see them in person.

Depending on when you are here ,you could try to get to Warfare 20th/21st in Reading. What traders arn't there probably arn't worth seeing
I'm not in London but I'm sure quite a few from there on this forum will be going that may be able to assist in transport

Not for historicals.

A bit of a painful trip I'm afraid - you'd need to get to Fenchurch St station and go to Benfleet from where Essex are a few miles and I haven't a clue how you'd get there from the station.

Thanks, I appreciate it. Guess I'll save some coins for other things.

I see. Guess it's not going to be in the cards then.

Not to mention it isn't very interesting once you are there.

Warfare is definitely the best bet for shopping - one of the top 3-4 shows of the year IMO. Reading is a direct train ride out of Paddington station, and the venue is about half an hour walk from the station - or there will be several of us driving out from London who might be able to offer you a lift

Bovington looks to be a direct 2 & 1/2 hour train ride from Waterloo Station to Wool, which is on the London-Weymouth line. http://www.buytickets.southwesttrains.co.uk

Tim, thank you very much on directions to the Tank Museum. Just to make sure, Waterloo is WAT not Waterloo East right?

In regards to Warfare, I arrive on the morning of November 21. It will probably be very difficult to get over to Reading on that day. I appreciate the offer, I would go if I was going to arrive earlier than the 21st. I hope I can still see you guys in London on Tuesday.

Waterloo East is a subset of Waterloo Mainline Station - its really just a brand name for some of the platforms at Waterloo who's lines go in a different direction!

Yes, for the Weymouth Line you need Waterloo and not Waterloo East.

It might be worth ordering some minis on the internet for delivery to where ever you are staying. At least that would avoid international shipping charges.

Shame you can`t visit Warfare Bob. I would think half the Southern UK guys on here will be there. It doesn`t close until 4.30 on 21st and is probably 45minutes by Taxi from Heathrow airport. Or 8 hours walking

Maybe somebody more local can correct those timings for you.

Heres a link for you.

There is a direct bus "Railair" from HEathrow Airport to Reading railway station, which should be cheaper than a taxi.

Well, almost ANYTHING is cheaper than a black cab from Heathrow!

Tim, I'll be waiting to see where you guys end up... I'm staying near Victoria Station.

We are moving (back) to a pub now called The Escape at Mornington Crescent - the only question still to be resolved is which night we will be meeting on.

We are now at the Escape, 2 Lidlington Place:

on Monday evenings, starting around 6.30.

You (and any other Fog players in, or passing through, London) will be very welcome.

Contact details are on Tim's Mad Axeman site. Or just pop-by to arrange a game for the following week.

A bold move sir! Normally, such an early (Turn One even!) attempt to go straight for the win would be considered declasse, but I guess you are using the Neasden Central optional rule.
