Game won't fire up after update

The updater appeared to work - I have a screen that says 'New Expansion Announced", "Update 1.4 - download new FREE campaign", etc.

Problem is when I click the OK box, the BA start up box disappears and so does the mouse pointer.

Two things I know I did prior to the update - bought Armada from Matrix games and installed it via d/l. It did say something about updating C++ libraries during the install. I mention this because something similar happened to another game I had, and I was pointed to a new .dll or file to d/l to fix it.

Also updated the mouse software from MS site.

Any ideas on how I can get the game running again?

TIA

BA doesn't really use or install any DLLs other than a few which are local to it. Is it possible in some way that the new game downgrades your runtimes in some way? Generally windows would complain, but it's possible.

Is there anything in the error.log file (in My Documents\My Games\BBCBA) after you try and run the game?

Cheers

Problem solved - it was the new nvidia driver for the 9500 gt on my computer. A few other games also had problems initialising the driver. Rolled back the driver and all is well. Version that does not work is 260.89 dated 2010.10.18.

Thanks for letting us know the details. I will see whether we can repeat the issue here.
