PBEM and reloading

Hi
Reloading a file is easy to do in PBEM. In order to solve that some games TOAW for instance) implemented a solution in which you receive the information if your opponent has reloaded the file and how many times, preventing some cheating or at least informing the opponent. I wonder if that could be implemented for GS v.2.0

That would be hard because nothing can prevent a player from placing back the original file he received from his opponent. So changing data in the save game won't solve the problem.
This means you need to store keys in the registry and save the result in the save game when a player ends his turn. An alternative would be to save settings in a hidden file. But both of these methods can easily be found by the players and fooled.
I think it's easier to watch how the moves of your opponent go. If he always gets good results, never fail important attacks etc. then you have a reason to suspect something fishy. If we had tournaments in GS then we would have needed some kind of system, but since we all play for fun it means we need to trust the players we play against.

you also need to remember that the combat system will throw up extreme's, like zechi's attack on Taranto in his AAR
I have just had two freakish results go my way in a game where Sealion was effectively stopped but two attacks with extreme results mean't I got to take London against the odds and in another game I attacked a weakened Amsterdam GAR (softened by a TAC and a FTR) with a MECH, CORP and GAR and lost all three land attacks quite badly

I am not that bothered with attacks with wild results, but with ambushes. In some games I have set ambushes with my subs, for instance, only to see enemy units to take quite unexpected paths to avoid them. The same for massing units for a surprise counteroffensive. It is Fog of War what suffer the most with the reloading cheating. Too bad it can“t be fixed somehow.
