IC influencing Bolstering

Am I correct in thinking that an IC can influence a bolstering roll even if he if not with the BG ? I.e. a TC is trying to rally a BG, and there is an IC within 12MU. Is the modifier +2 (for the IC) or jus +1 for the general doing the bolstering ?

Why not ? From a reading of the modifiers for CTs it appears that he can ?

Because a commander can only bolster a BG he is with, and only 1 commander can bolster a BG - it was thrashed out a while back somewhere on this forum, gods alone know where though.

Only one commander is doing the bolstering - the TC.
It says in the rules that if a BG is in combat the general must be with the BG to influence it. Where in the rules (or errata / FAQ) does it say that only the general with a BG can influence it when it is being bolstered ?

And the IC isn't so can't.

Yes, I found this myself yesterday. It explicitly states that only the modifier of the general bolstering the BG is used in the CT.
