Hi, I get the point that you need an Ally-general in order to have allied troops in your list and therefore expand the types of units you can have in an army. And I understand that the command influnece of an Ally-general is restricted to Allied troops of the same nationality.

Otherwise is there any general do's and don'ts when it comes to Allies?

Not as far as I know.
Just be aware that there's a bug in Storm of Arrows army-list, so that general bodyguard units do not appear in some lists when chosen.
This is cosmetic only, as it appears as normal in the game.
