Interception Charge after a Variable Move roll.

Inspired by an incident where my knights chased off some light foot, who evaded through the enemy knights behind them, who in turn immediately intercept charged. I hadn't expected that, although it seemed bleeding obvious after it happened.

... however ...

what about troops whose zone-of-interception does not extend into the charge path initially, until the charging troops roll high on their variable move test and go the extra MU? I would guess they ~can~ intercept charge, although the sequence of events seems a bit strange. Can they?

No. Intercepts cannot happen after evades. See the detailed turn sequence.

If you look at the sequence of play on page 168 you will see that intercepts occur before evades. So the answer to your question is no, they can't and nor could the knights in your first example.
