impossible evade

Hi,
I was just whiling away my sunday evening reading FogR cover to cover and something struck me relating to the evade path (related to the picture on page 90).
Evaders must turn either 90 or 180 degrees when evading from enemy where they are not facing away from the chargers.
If instead of charging, the foot in the diagram moved as close as they could (but not touching the mtd) the way troops turn 90 degrees to evade would prevent the BG from turning 90 degrees.
They could turn 180 degrees instead but their wheel would take part of the BG through the foot and as far as I can tell this is not permitted. (only allowed for wheeling out of line from your own troops)
Is this the case? If so it would be silly to charge MTD in situations the same as in page 90. Just walk up nose to nose, shoot and charge next turn by preventing the evaders from any possible facing change.
Is it by design? It could be argued that its tough luck for the Mtd and they shouldnt be at an angle in front of foot able to charge them if they arent expecting to stand and take it but that does reduce the value of having the evade attribute.
I like the idea Tercio requirement that enemy have to move back to prevent a tercio from changing facing. This might have been good to apply to other troops as well. Alternatively when a BG changes facing to evade the prior rear corner closest to the enemy chargers becomes the new rear corner closest to the enemy (ie they stay exactly the same distance form the enemy prior to On of the bodgey things in FogAM is that little groups of LF can prevent formation changes despite not exerting a zone of whatcha-ma-callit or being able to charge themselves.
