Can you play solo on the multiplayer maps against the computer?
Sorry if this is dumb question as I am new to wargaming

You could - but the AI wouldn't do muh (if anything).
If you check out this link
viewtopic.php?t=18330
it will explain how to set up hotseat mode, so you can play yourself on any of the multiplayer maps, which can be a good learning tool, if that's what you are after

But be aware that all hotseat play is done online, i.e. the turns are uploaded to the server.
Don't suppose anybody has a workaround for this so you can play offline do they? I'm away from home next week and my internet connection may be patchy so have been trying to work out a way of playing all my favourite maps against myself while sitting in a, hopefully plush, hotel room.

Unfortunately the hotseat mode was something of a workaround itself.
If it's a plush hotel room, it should have free internet!

Hopefully is the operative word
I've never stopped at a place where it's been free ... but this will be a trip to the US and I've heard that that's supposed to be the land of the free! So you never know

How would that work?

Would require a whole new multiplayer game, I guess.
Same as current MP, but playing on a SP map instead. Player 1 commands units for a turn, completes turn. Player 2 cmomands units for a turn, completes turn. Etc.
Just a though for us folks who enjoy Coop play.

Ah - I see. We do have it on our wishlist, but it would really need new missions and ways of making the coop element something integral to the design of them. So much to do, so little time!

What about porting current Campaign missions?

I'm not sure they would be interesting enough in coop. I think you need missions where cooperation is required, rather than just splitting the force in two and saying "off you go" to the players.
That's all ignoring the fairly large code changes which would be needed to allow two players to play one side, of course

you will enjoy your trip .. out her in Arizona I have never paid for the internet in an hotel and that is wireless ... heck I can get wrieless at my grocery store, book store and even some McDonalds for free. A lot of other resturants have free wireless including dumpy chinese buffets. We may have to change this to the land of the free wireless!

If you have the time, see if you can go to French Lick in the Southern part of the state. There is a large resort hotel full of history there. The countryside is beautiful in the fall.
