Im not sure if this is a bug or I dont understand the rules well enough.

Ive noticed recently that In the impact phase, the reported % win/loss may be of the order 23% for me to win 56% defender to win, but the poa for each troop are both 1. From memory these were greek hoplite protected vs persian medium light spear.

What have I missed? Is the poa being reported correctly? it gives poa = 1 for both but on rolls gives the persians a greater chance of getting a hit.

If it is bow armed MF then they recieve 2 extra support dice at 1 POA worse. Effectively 6 dice to your 4. The game doesn't show these results or displays them in the calculations but does include them in the win loss %.

Yes, it is. The two support dice receive an additional -1POA. This means in your hoplite/MF scenario that the MF has 4 dice at evens (as you both have 1 POA) and 2 dice at -1 POA (thus needing 5 or 6).

Also check to see if your opponent is superior or not, Superiors re-roll 1's so there is a slight chance they might do better in the end after any re-rolls. Elites re-roll 1's and 2's. Poor re-rolls 6's. Sometimes even with better POA's you still get a rather poor % chance showing because you are average and they are superior or better.

Thanks, but yes is was the bow support fire I hadn't really noticed before. I noticed it first in my SOA game agains Claytmore (he of the 2 hands) but I dont play SOA that often, and hadnt come across it until my medium bow were at a disadvantage against his medium bow on the charge. Nice to put it to bed.
