CHT test before impact

There's some thought being given to making impact more important. One way to do this would be to take a CHT before impact when fighting scary troops but not give the -1 for losing the impact.

So, for example, Galatian warriors against Successor foot (say impact foot vs pike). At the moment equal at impact, very bad for the Galatians if they don't win. If this change were made it would be:

Pike test for being in impact vs Impact Foot with a -1 modifier (so need to roll 8 to pass before other factors). If they fail they'll be disrupted at impact. The impact will be at equal factors but the pike get less dice. So the pike might lose again, thus making them test again, but without the current -1 for losing to IF.

I'm not quite sure what would qualify as "scary troops". Simplest would be the ones that give you a -1 on CHT at the moment but perhaps make it undrilled foot, any lancers, scythed chariots. Elephants perhaps?

I'm thinking that this could be a relatively straightforward way to beef up impact. It sort of give a double impact bound without having to roll all the combat dice twice.

If I commanded an Early German army, I'd be forced to repeat Wellington's alleged quote, "I don't know what effect these men will have on the enemy, but by God, they terrify me."
