Why are Undrilled MF so mobile?

I just played a game with Alexandrian Macedonians against Indians. The Macedonians had LF every two hexes across their line. They got crushed.

The reason they got crushed, in large part, was because I of something I noticed but didn't really clue in about before. Specifically, that the undrilled MF can freely about face and move full, whenever they want. This is completely at odds with the Tabletop game, and makes MF extremely effective, far beyond what I think they have any reason to be.

In the TT game, for undrilled to turn around at all, they need a CMT. Then they can't move. For drilled foot, they can freely turn, but still can't move. This completely prevents the tactic of consistently shooting, then withdrawing, then turning and shooting again, pretty much forever.

It doesn't seem to me that MF should be able to act almost as LF, and especially, it doesn't seem logical that undrilled MF should be even close to that mobile. It completely changes the game.

(It also didn't help that his unprotected MF Bows did a minimum of 6-7, and more consistently 15-25 casualties with every shot, while my LF did 1-4 to him. As he's unprotected, I should have been hitting on 3s, while he hits on 4s, so his 50% shooting benefit should have been somewhat cancelled out. (Somehow when I play the persians, I never do close to that))

However, my main question is why they so completely changed the nature of MF. vs. the table top rules.
